Man brutally beaten with baseball bat at Tooele County rest stop

TOOELE COUNTY, Utah, Aug. 26, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A man was rushed by medical helicopter to an area hospital Friday morning after another man reportedly beat him with a baseball bat.

The victim had been sleeping in his car at a Tooele County rest stop/view area when the suspect approached him, asking for money. The victim refused, and the suspect left, but returned with a baseball bat, according to information from the Utah Highway Patrol.

After the attack, which happened at about 5 a.m., the victim made his way to a Flying J service station, which placed a 911 call on his behalf. The victim was in critical condition, but still conscious, when he was transported.
