KAYSVILLE, Utah, Nov. 12, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A 26-year-old man has been booked on charges with DUI after an early morning crash that caused a power outage to about half of Kaysville.
Jason Philip Exley faces two charges: reckless driving and driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol level at or over .08.
According to a probable cause statement, the suspect was traveling southbound on Interstate 15 near 200 North in Kaysville. Multiple calls came in saying he was driving his truck recklessly, according to an officer from the Utah Highway Patrol.
The suspect took the Kaysville exit, traveled down a hill and struck a power pole at 200 North, which shut down interstate traffic in both directions.
“The medical staff on scene advised there was a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming off this person,” says the officer’s report in the probable cause statement.
“I arrived at the Davis Hospital and spoke with Exley. Exley had red, bloodshot and glassy eyes. I could not perform field sobriety tests due to the fact that he had a broken collarbone and other injuries.”
“I read Exley the refusal admonition, and he explained that he still refused. I requested a warrant for a blood draw, and upon receiving the warrant, I had a Davis County Deputy respond for the blood draw.
“After his release from the hospital, I booked Exley into the Davis County jail on the above charges.”
About half of Kaysville’s estimated 31,243 residents were still without power Saturday morning. Generators were set up on a temporary basis to power traffic lights.
Power was restored to Kaysville residents by Sunday at 11 a.m.
So, need to send this guy a bill for the generator that i bought and the time I️ had to take to track one down since they flew off the shelf this morning. Jackass.
