EAGLE MOUNTAIN, Utah, Dec. 23, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — An Eagle Mountain man has been booked into the Utah County Jail after his 2-year-old stepson, left in his care, was found covered with fresh bruises.

Alec Blair, 26, said the toddler had fallen down the stairs. The investigating officer from the Utah County Sheriff’s Office said in a probable cause statement that he saw the child in an exam room, and said the boy was covered “head to toe” in purple bruises.

“Two more doctors at Primary Children’s Hospital were convinced the bruising was consistent with severe abuse and not consistent with a fall down the stairs,” the statement says.

The mother indicated that when she left for work on Monday, the day of the injury, the child was crying, and Blair told the boy, “If you throw up on me, I am going to choke you.”

She also noted that her son had been afraid to be left with his stepfather for about two weeks at that time. In addition, the mother showed the detective a photo taken of the child a day earlier, which showed no injuries.

Blair was booked into the Utah County Jail on one count of child abuse — inflicting serious physical injury intentionally, a second-degree felony. He is being held on $10,000 bail.

  1. It is sickening the men and women in this country who abuse and kill children. Every day it’s a new victim of these vicious cowards who likely would run from an adult. What is also tragic is these thugs rarely get much prison time for torturing little kids. This baby is two and was terrified of this animal. Why would this woman leave her child with a dangerous man like this? I hope social services will have the decency to take this baby and put him for adoption so he can be safe!
