SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH – August 14, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – Utah Federal Prosecutors in Utah are preparing to bring charges against a man who was recently convicted on terrorism related charges in Idaho.

Fazliddin Kurbanov, 33, of Boise, was found guilty by a federal jury on three counts of conspiracy to provide material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization and possession of an unregistered destructive device.

In an indictment filed by the State of Utah on May 16, 2013, prosecutors allege Kurbanov knowingly taught and demonstrated the making and use of explosives, destructive devices, and weapons of mass destruction by showing videos, providing written receipts, verbal instructions and showing instructional shopping trips to an unidentified man that lives in Utah that constitutes a federal crime of violence.

It is not clear at this time who the man in Utah is or what he was intending to to with the information he received from Kurbanov, however, no one else has been charged in this case.

Kurbanov is scheduled to be sentenced in November and faces up to 40 years for the crimes he was convicted of in November. Once the sentencing hearing is complete, Kurbanov can then be brought to Utah to face his charges here.
