Man dead after truck crashes into Draper building

DRAPER, Utah, Nov. 2, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A 29-year-old man is dead after the vehicle he was driving smashed into a vacant building in Draper early Thursday morning.

Draper City Police spokesman Sgt. Chad Carpenter said the man was driving a gray Ford F250 truck north on Minuteman DriveĀ  at approximately 2 a.m.

A witness reported the Ford truck was travelling at a high rate of speed as
it approached the curve near 12458 S. Minuteman Drive, formerly Virg’s Family Restaurant.

The driver, Stetson David Peck, lost control of the truck as he attempted the curve, causing the truck to leave the roadway, roll a couple of times, and crash into the vacant building.

Responding police and fire units found Peck deceased at the scene.

The multi-jurisdictional Collision Accident Reconstruction unit is investigating the accident.

The road was closed until approximately 5 a.m.
