WEST JORDAN, Utah, Jan. 13, 2025 (Gephardt Daily) — A fatal vehicle-pedestrian crash in West Jordan closed a section of 7800 South Monday morning.
The closed area of the road was between Redwood Road and 1300 West. Detective Derek Brummel, West Jordan Police, told Gephardt Daily that the road was expected to reopen by late morning.
The pedestrian-vehicle collision happened at about 1400 W. 7800 South at 5:30 a.m., Brummel said. The pedestrian, a man said to be middle aged, died from injuries sustained.
“We don’t have any idea why he was in the roadway,” Brummel told Gephardt Daily. “There’s no crosswalk in the area where he was crossing in the roadway or in the roadway. It wasn’t a well lit area, so it was kind of dark, and I guess that could possibly be a factor.”
The driver remained on scene, and was cooperative with police, as were several witnesses, Brummel said.
