SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Dec. 4, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) — A man died Thursday afternoon in a single-vehicle collision with a concrete barrier as he was trying to move from I-215 to an I-80 on-ramp.

According to Utah Highway Patrol, 25-year-old Keiffer G. Carter of Cottonwood Heights was headed northbound on I-215 at 2:18 p.m. when he ran off the road to the left as he was attempting to take the I-80 on-ramp. Keiffer’s vehicle went up the embankment before crashing into the cement wall from the I-80 westbound to I-215 southbound ramp.

Keiffer was not wearing his seat belt and died at the scene as a result of his injuries.

The accident is still under investigation, but troopers said it appears that Keiffer did not make any attempts to avoid the crash.

It is not known if alcohol or drugs were a factor.
