Man, dogs rescued after canoe capsizes on Provo River

PROVO, Utah, Sept. 1, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A man in his 50s was transported to the hospital after being found unconscious in the Provo River Saturday afternoon.

Provo Police Department officials said the man was canoeing with two dogs near 4000 West Center St. about 4:15 p.m. when all three somehow ended up in the water.

When first responders arrived they found the man in the river and unresponsive. EMTs began CPR and rushed him to the hospital.

Initially, rescuers found only one dog, but later discovered the second. Both were uninjured and have been reunited with the family, according to Provo P.D.

Neither the man’s identity or his condition are being released at this time.
