MILLARD COUNTY, Utah, Dec. 16, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A man drowned Friday evening while diving in the Meadow Hot Pots, the Millard County Sheriff’s Office has reported.

In a Facebook post Saturday, the sheriff’s office said deputies and medical personnel responded to the area after witnesses reported seeing a person dive toward the bottom of one of the deep pools without resurfacing.

Upon arrival, deputies called for a local scuba diver to assist in the search.

The man, identified as Shane Stewart, 49, was found several feet down and was unresponsive.

Despite rescue efforts, he could not be revived and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to Shane’s family and friends in this time of tragic loss,” the sheriff’s post said.
