WEBER COUNTY, Utah, April 22, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A man escaped injury Friday morning when his vehicle crashed through cement barriers and landed upside down in a river.

Weber County Sheriff Sgt. Mark Horton said the accident happened just before 10 a.m. when a 25-year-old man was headed west on State Road 39 and veered off the road and into the barriers.

“After hitting the barriers, the vehicle rolled upside down and landed in the river,” Horton said. “He even took the cement barriers with him into the water.”

Horton said the man was headed home after working a graveyard shift and it is possible fatigue was a factor in the accident.

The canyon was closed for a couple hours but has since reopened.

The car has been pulled out of the water and crews are still on scene removing the barriers.
