SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, April 21, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Officers are conducting an investigation after a man crashed his car on I-215 Thursday afternoon, then fled on foot.

Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Shawn Peppers said the crash happened at 2:30 p.m. on the freeway at 1700 East heading westbound.

Peppers said the accident only involved one car. When it was disabled for an unknown reason, the male driver ran from the scene on foot.

“We then conducted a search for that individual, and were unable to find him.” said Peppers. “We have collected witness statements, and are in the process of conducting follow up to see who the male is.

“The reason for the crash is still under investigation.”

There was also a female in the car, who was detained.

No one was transported to the hospital.

Gephardt Daily will have more on this developing story when information becomes available.
