MIDVALE, UTAH – August 20, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – A man who stole a cookie from a convenience store Thursday afternoon took officers on a foot chase to avoid being arrested.

According to Unified Police Lt. Lex Bell, an officer was driving by the Chevron on 7200 S. 300 West when he noticed the clerk outside in a confrontation with a customer. “He noticed the altercation appeared to become physical so he pulled into the gas station to see if he could help,” said Bell. “The man took off running after seeing the officers so customarily they chased him.”

Bell said after they apprehended Aaron Wobrock, 41, of Murray, they returned to the clerk to find out that the altercation was over Wobrock stealing a cookie from the store.

“Our officers had no idea why he was running and honestly we are still not sure why he fled,” said Bell. “He has a very small criminal history and has no warrants.”

Wobrock has been booked into Salt Lake County Jail on shoplifting and fleeing police.
