COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS, Utah, May 6, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A man hit by a truck in Cottonwood Heights Sunday morning was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

The 46-year-old man was believed to be walking outside of a crosswalk, said Sgt. J.G. Tazoi, Cottonwood Heights Police Department. The victim was walking at about 2:30 a.m. near the intersection of Highland Drive and La Cresta Drive in an unknown direction.

Police believe the man was intoxicated, Tazoi said.

Two cars were able to avoid the man, but the third vehicle, a northbound truck, hit the victim with its side mirror. The man driving the truck stopped, and was cooperative with police on the scene.

Tazoi said the victim suffered a variety of injuries.

“He was transported in critical condition, still awake, with bruises to his face,” the officer said. “He had at least one tooth missing and several loose, and cuts, scrapes and bruises. It’s unknown if he broke any bones.”

The man had walked into traffic at least one other time, the officer said.
