MIDVALE, Utah, June 11, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A man is in extremely critical condition after a single-axle trailer fell on him in Midvale early Tuesday afternoon.

The incident happened just after 12:30 p.m. outside the InTown Suites extended-stay hotel at 151 W. 7200 South, Unified Police Department Sgt. Melody Gray told Gephardt Daily.

The 55-year-old man was staying at the hotel and is a transient, Gray said. He was changing a tire on the trailer when it fell on him, she said.

By the time officials arrived, the trailer had been moved off the man, but Gray said there are differing reports about exactly how that happened.

A woman at the scene told police she lifted the trailer off the man and she wasn’t sure how she found the strength, but then a man said a similar thing.

Gray clarified that Unified Police provided a medical assist and the case will now be dealt with by Unified Fire Authority. She said the incident was an accident and no crime was committed.

The injured man’s identity has not been released.

Gephardt Daily will have more on this developing story as information is made available.
