PARLEYS CANYON, Utah, May 27, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A man is in serious condition after a rollover crash on Interstate 80 in Parleys Canyon Sunday afternoon.

A gray Toyota Scion was traveling eastbound on I-80 near Parleys Summit at milepost 139 at approximately 1:20 p.m., according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

“The driver of the vehicle was traveling too fast for the wet road conditions and lost control of the vehicle,” the UHP said. “The Scion entered the median and rolled before entering the westbound travel lanes on its roof.”

The rear end of the Scion impacted the front end of a Gold Cross Ambulance traveling westbound on I-80. That caused the Scion to spin around and hit a westbound Jeep.

The driver of the Scion was taken by ground ambulance to University of Utah Hospital in serious condition.

Gold Cross was transporting a patient to Salt Lake in the ambulance at the time of the crash; that patient was successfully transported after the incident. There were no other injuries reported from the other two vehicles involved.

I-80 was completely closed for approximately 25 minutes; the exit 139 off and onramp were used to divert traffic around the scene while the investigation and cleanup were completed.

All lanes of the freeway are now open.
