COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS, Utah, Dec. 13, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A man is in stable condition after being shot during what police believe was a drug deal gone bad in Cottonwood Heights.

The incident occurred at approximately midnight Tuesday outside the Santa Fe Apartments at 1550 Fort Union Blvd., Cottonwood Heights Police Sgt. Ryan Shosted told Gephardt Daily.

Shosted said it appears that a man was parked in a vehicle with the intent of selling drugs, and a car arrived with multiple people inside to allegedly purchase drugs. An altercation began and the man who was intending to sell the drugs was shot, Shosted said. The injured man drove himself into Midvale, then called for medical help. He is in stable condition.

Shosted said though police have not taken anyone into custody as yet, officials have good information on who the suspects might be. The injured man may also be facing charges, he said.

He added that police do not believe there is a danger to the public.
