EAST CARBON, Utah, Jan. 26, 2025 (Gephardt Daily) — A 54-year-old man was arrested Friday after a baseball bat attack in Carbon County city of East Carbon.

Police were dispatched to a reported attack at 140 W. Geneva Drive, and spoke to the reporting party, who witnessed the assault. The witness said he had met the victim earlier the same day, when the man offered him a ride home.

“According to the witness, a white van pulled to the curb behind the victim’s vehicle,” say arrest documents for Bobby Green, filed by an officer of the East Carbon Police Department.

“The witness indicated that when the van stopped the victim said to the witness something to the effect of ‘this guy is here to get me.’ The witness indicated he believed at the time that the victim was joking and did not pay much attention.

“He stated that the driver of the van, later identified as Bobby Green, then approached the victim’s driver door, opened it, then hit the victim in the head with a baseball bat. The witness indicated that after the first blow the suspect pulled the victim from the vehicle and struck him in the head again and the two men began struggling on the ground.

“At that time, according to the witness, he exited the passenger door, approached the two men and demanded they stop fighting. The witness stated the suspect acknowledged him, stopped attacking the victim, returned to the van and left.”

The officer noted that the victim “had a small bleeding wound in the center of his forehead and a bleeding, swollen wound on the upper right frontal portion of his head that was above the hairline.”

Green was detained at his residence.

“He indicated the victim had fallen out of his truck and struck his head. The suspect allowed officers to look in the van, no baseball bat was found. I returned to the scene and was able to observe that the conditions that the suspect alleged had led to the victim falling, specifically ice and snow, were not present at the scene.”

The victim’s injuries “were consistent with being struck with a blunt object multiple times rather than a single fall,” Green’s affidavit says. “At that time the suspect was placed under arrest and transported to jail.”

Green was arrested for aggravated assault, a third-degree felony, and was ordered held without bail.
