HUNTSVILLE, Utah, May 11, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A man is in the Weber County Jail after officials say he assaulted his mother and stabbed her husband to death.

David Erekson was arrested on suspicion of felony murder, assault with substantial injuries, obstruction of justice and interfering with arrest. Formal charges are pending.

According to a news release from the Weber County Sheriff’s Office, officers were called at 7:01 p.m. Wednesday to a Huntsville residence on a report of a family disturbance. Gundi McClarin reported that Erekson, her adult son, had attacked both her and her husband, Roger Haven.

Deputies arrived and found Haven dead. It appeared he had been assaulted and stabbed, the WCSO statement said. Resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful.

McClarin also had been assaulted and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Her condition was not released, but the WCSO statement said her injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Deputies attempted to take Erekson into custody, but he refused to comply and resisted arrest. Deputies used a Taser to take him into custody.

A search warrant was served on the home. The investigation is ongoing.
