TAYLORSVILLE, Utah, Jan. 17, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A 22-year-old man and his 16-year-old brother were arrested Tuesday after allegedly posting videos to Snapchat of the juvenile holding a gun in the parking lot of Taylorsville High School.
Eduard Enrique Banuelos Trujillo and his juvenile brother are facing charges of second-degree felony threat of terrorism and class A misdemeanor possession of a firearm on school premises.
The older brother is also facing a charge of class B misdemeanor contributing to the delinquency of a minor, according to a probable cause statement from the 3rd District Court of Salt Lake City. Trujillo was booked into Salt Lake County Jail, while his teen brother was booked into a juvenile detention center.
On Tuesday, the younger brother was driven to Taylorsville High School at 5225 S. Redwood Road by Trujillo, the probable cause statement said.
“Eduard was in possession of a Glock handgun and parked on the east side of the school next to the curb,” the statement said. “(The juvenile) admitted post Miranda that Eduard handed him the Glock handgun so he could ‘flex.’ (The juvenile) began holding the handgun in his lap and videotaping students leaving the school building, while commenting ‘Never laggin’.'”
According to the juvenile, “Never laggin’ means you are either ‘strapped or packing a gun, or you’re laggin’.'”
“(The juvenile) acted with the intent or express or implied the threat of shooting a student or multiple students with the handgun provided by Eduard,” the statement said.
Officials said the older brother recorded the juvenile holding the gun and posted numerous videos to Snapchat.
Numerous students and parents saw the videos on Snapchat and reported them to the school. Unified police subsequently located Trujillo’s vehicle; it was pulled over and Trujillo and his brother were arrested.
The probable cause statement added: “Eduard has access to additional weapons that were not located or recovered and could repeat this event, posing a significant danger to the school students and public.”
Trujillo is being held on $25,000 bail.
