TOOELE COUNTY, Utah, June 27, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A man in his 50s suffered fatal injuries Wednesday night when his vehicle ran a red light and struck a landscape truck.

The man who died was driving south on State Route 36 at about 6:50 p.m. when he came to Bates Canyon Road. At the intersection, the driver failed to stop his black Ford Ranger for the traffic light, Sgt. Todd Royce, Utah Highway Patrol, told Gephardt Daily.

“He ran the red light and T-boned a landscape truck pulling a trailer,” Royce said.

“There were three people in the landscape truck, and two were transported in serious but not life-threatening condition” to an area hospital, Royce said.

SR-36 was closed for more than two hours, Royce said, but side roads kept the traffic congestion from being worse.

The name of the man who died is being withheld pending notification of his family, Royce said.
