STANSBURY PARK, Utah, May 17, 2023 (Gephardt Daily) — One man is dead after a Tooele County collision between a dump truck and an SUV.

The collision happened at about 2:55 p.m. Wednesday, according to a Utah Highway Patrol statement. It happened at milepost 61 (Village Boulevard) on southbound State Route 36, when a southbound maroon Chevy Tahoe tried to turn left, in front of a northbound white dump truck.

“The driver of the Tahoe hesitated on a left-hand turn and then pulled forward into the intersection in front of the dump truck,” a UHP news release says. “The dump truck struck the Tahoe in a T-bone fashion, killing the 56-year-old male driver of the Tahoe. The driver of the dump truck was uninjured. SR-36 was closed to one lane for about 3 hours during the investigation.

“Our condolences go out to those involved in this incident,” the UHP release says. “The crash is still under investigation.”
