WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, Oct. 8, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A man was transported to a local hospital Monday night after being struck by a vehicle as he crossed Redwood Rd.

The injured man was in serious condition at the scene and was immediately taken into surgery upon arrival at the hospital, Lt. Shane Matheson, West Valley City Police Department, said.

The accident happened just before 10 p.m. near 3850 S. Redwood.

Matheson said the area is dark, and the man was not in a crosswalk when he was hit by a northbound vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and was cooperating with police.

“At this time, I don’t think the driver will face any charges,” Matheson told Gephardt Daily.

Police do not know the name of the injured pedestrian because he was not carrying any identification. Matheson said he appears to be in his early to mid-20s.
