SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Oct. 20, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A man was rushed to the hospital in serious condition early Saturday morning when firefighters and paramedics responded to a house fire at 321 W. 400 North.
Battalion Chief Dan Walker, with the Salt Lake City Fire Department, said the call came in just after midnight, and when crews arrived, the structure was “fairly involved in fire.”
“We knew there was an individual that had been burned,” he said, so paramedics were immediately dispatched to take the victim to the hospital.
The resident of the home was in the yard in serious condition with burns, but Walker had no details as to the extent of the man’s injuries.
Walker said a preliminary and secondary search were conducted, and no one else was in the house.
About 20 firefighters were on scene and had the fire under control within 17 minutes. No firefighters were injured.
Walker estimated the interior and exterior damage to the home at $200,000.
The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
