LOGAN, UTAH – September 22, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – Cache County Sheriff’s officers have identified a 76-year-old man who drowned Sunday afternoon after falling from his Kayak in Cutler Reservoir near Newton.

According to Cache County Sheriff Office, William Franklin Kline, of Logan, and his wife, Elizabeth, were kayaking around 11 a.m. when for some unknown reason they both fell out. Elizabeth Kline was able to hold onto her kayak and as she was tying hers down, her husband was swimming to the shore.

The two had been communicating by hearing each other’s voices but when the man stopped responding the woman tried to reach him when spotted him face down in the water. She then called 911 from her cell phone.

Crews from Newton, Smithfield and Logan arrived to help in retrieving the man when a citizen offered his boat to help pull him from the water.

Medical personnel took the unresponsive man to Logan Regional where he was pronounced dead.
