MEADOW, Utah, Nov. 25, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A diver recovered a man’s body from Meadow Hot Spring in the early hours of Sunday morning after he apparently slipped under a ledge and could not free himself.

Millard County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Robert Clark told Gephardt Daily authorities responded to the incident just after 4 a.m. Sunday, after two witnesses that were with the man called 911.

A 33-year-old man from Holladay was at the hot spring with his brother and at least one other person that was known to him, though it’s not clear at this stage exactly who called for assistance.

The man had gone under the water and somehow became trapped under a ledge inside the hot spring, Clark said. After he did not resurface, the witnesses called authorities.

Officials arrived at the scene but could not see the man; a diver was then called in and retrieved the man’s body approximately one hour later.

The victim had minor cuts and scrapes on his head. His body has been transported to the Utah Office of the Medical Examiner to determine his exact cause of death, Clark said.

The man’s identity has not been released pending notification of family members.

Meadow Hot Spring consists of three unregulated soaking areas which are located on private property, just south of Fillmore.

Gephardt Daily will have more on this developing story as information is made available.
