LOS ANGELES, May 23, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Utah native Marie Osmond is asking her fans to pray for her newborn granddaughter, who was rushed to a newborn intensive care unit after her birth.
“Asking for prayers for my precious granddaughter born this evening at 6 pounds 10 ounces,” Osmond tweeted at 2:07 a.m. Thursday morning. “So thankful she was able to be taken to children’s ICU in one of our amazing @CMNHospitals #gratitude that she is in their care.”
Donny Osmond — Marie’s brother, longtime singing partner and fellow Ogden native — also tweeted:
“I’m grateful that Brianna’s baby has arrived safely and is in good hands. Sending love, prayers and support to my niece and her family.”
Marie Osmond’s daughter, Brianna Blosil Schwep, 21, is married to cinematographer David Schwep, 42. The newborn is the couple’s first child together.
Osmond, mother to eight children, is the cofounder of the non-profit Children’s Miracle Network (@CMNHospitals), which raises funds for children’s hospitals and helps fund medical research. It also strives to raise awareness of children’s health issues.
Osmond did not say share the medical reason for the infant’s being moved to a NICU unit. An Amazon baby registry the parents listed through Amazon.com did say the infant’s due date was May 13, which, if accurate, would indicate she was born well after her due date.
In a On Dec. 15 post, Schwep announced he and Brianna had married in a private ceremony attended by his parents, Osmond and Brianna’s stepfather, Steve Craig. Additional Instagram posts document the couple’s pregnancy.
As of Friday morning, Marie Osmond’s tweet asking for prayers had garnered 3,500 likes, more than 700 comments and more than 170 shares.
