HURRICANE, Utah, Aug. 17, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A suspect in the robbery of a Metro PCS store in Hurricane late Thursday afternoon was arrested after a traffic stop in Washington City.

A news release from Hurricane City Police Department said the robbery occurred at about 5:40 p.m., when a man entered the store at 1141 W. State St., displayed a handgun, and demanded money from a store employee.

The man, later identified by police as Jakob E. Grogan, of Las Vegas, Nev., left the store with money and several cellphones, the news release says.

Several hours later, a Washington City Police officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle and saw that a passenger in the vehicle matched the description of the robbery suspect.

A handgun was found inside the vehicle, the release says.

Hurricane Police detectives responded to the location of the traffic stop and determined that Grogan was indeed the suspect in the Metro PCS robbery.

Grogan was arrested and “booked into jail for aggravated robbery and several other charges. This investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be added at a later date,” the news release states.

Gephardt Daily will update this story as more information is made available.
