MIDVALE, Utah, Aug. 18, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A Midvale woman was arrested Saturday for alleged elder abuse against her parents.

A probable cause statement from the 3rd District Court of Salt Lake County said Anne Helene Cockrell, 42, is facing charges of two counts of aggravated abuse of a disabled or elderly adult, intentional, a second-degree felony; and two counts of aggravated assault, a third-degree felony.

The arresting officer wrote that he was dispatched on a domestic call in Midvale.  The suspect, Cockrell, was located away from the scene.

“Anne had come to her hotel room in Midvale where her parents stay,” the statement said. “Anne went crazy on her mother and started beating her and hitting her. Anne hit her mother with her own cane and oxygen bottles that were in the room.”

Cockrell’s father came into the room to try to break up the fight, officials said.

“Anne turned to her father and started hitting him with her hands, canes and oxygen tanks,” the statement said. “Anne’s father had lacerations and bruising on his arms. This victim had blood on his shirt and arms.”

Cockrell also poured Tide laundry detergent on both victims, and told them “she wanted to kill them as she was pouring the detergent.”

Both victims are over the age of 65, the statement said.

Cockrell was booked into Salt Lake County Jail with her bail set at $50,000.
