MILLCREEK, Utah, Feb. 25, 2016 (Gephardt Daily)  — A Millcreek mother and daughter barely escaped injury early Thursday morning after fire engulfed their apartment complex.

The mother — who asked not to be identified — told Gephardt Daily she awoke around 3:40 a.m. and realized her home, at 800 E. Jepson Ave. and 3225 South, was in flames.

“I was sleeping in the living room” she said. “I woke up and my room was on fire. There was nothing plugged in. No candles burning. I don’t know what started it.”

The mother and daughter ran from the apartment and began pounding on neighbors’ doors to alert them to the fire.

No one appears to have been injured in the blaze.

Unified fire crews are still on the scene.

Gephardt Daily will have more on the story as information becomes available.
