Moab BASE jumper falls 320 feet to his death

MOAB, Utah, May 31, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A Moab man died after a BASE jumping accident near Goose Island Tuesday night, according to officials.

A news release from the Grand County Sheriff’s Office said Seth F. Graham, 34, of Moab, Utah, died at approximately 8:40 p.m. from injuries sustained in the jump from a 320-foot cliff above the Goose Island Recreation site on the Colorado River.

The news release said the accident was witnessed by a person with Canyonlands by Night who was passing the area on a boat tour of the Colorado River. Grand County Sheriff’s Office dispatch was notified of the accident. Grand County EMS and search and rescue and the Sheriff’s Office then responded to the site.

Graham was jumping alone at the time of the accident.

Goose Island is four miles north of Moab.
