“Upon arrival, Sheriff’s deputies determined that an unknown male was struck by a train and was found deceased,” the news release said. “Currently, the male has not been identified and his origin has not yet been determined. Witnesses stated that the male jumped in front of the train as it approached, and the incident is being viewed as a possible suicide.”

The victim was taken to the Utah Office of the Medical Examiner where his identity and cause of death attempt to be determined.

Family members told Gephardt Daily the victim was a teenager.

Gephardt Daily does not report on suicides unless there is an impact to the public, or they occur in a public place, such as in this case.

Mona is approximately 14 miles south of Santaquin.

  1. my family lost our youngest son last year due to a accident, and I still grieve . this is and will be the hardest thing any parent will ever have to go through . I will pray for them to get through this hard time and hope they will be able to move forward because they will never be able to move on !

  2. This man ..was my barely 15 year old nephew..he was on his way to school..we are not sure how this happened..it’s fair to say he could have been messing around..and didn’t think this thru. We are hurting from this loss. The law enforcement agencies didn’t put 2 and 2 together until late that night..I hope that this report will update the correct facts in this story.
