Mother Of Missing Utah Teen Macin Smith Posts

ST. GEORGE, Utah, Dec. 26, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) — The mother of missing St. George teenager Macin Smith has released another statement on social media seeking the safe return of her son.

The 17-year-old walked away from his family’s home in early September 2015, and has not been seen or heard from since.

Tracey Bratt-Smith, Macin’s mother, posted a new plea Christmas week on the Help Find Macin Smith Facebook page.

“I continue to miss my Macin every minute of everyday,” she wrote. “I have hope that I will see him again. I have hope that he will feel the love of his family.

“I do believe that I need to accept the circumstances and allow for Macin to make his own choices and learn from his own experiences. I only have love, no anger. Compassion, not intolerance. Forgiveness, not resentment. I love him more than I can express.”

Bratt-Smith’s statements come just days after the release of a new flier, by Red Rocks Search and Rescue in Las Vegas, showing what Macin might look like after a couple months living on his own.

“He’s been gone since September,” wrote Red Rocks Search and Rescue Commander, Dave Cummings. “More than likely he hasn’t gotten a haircut. I want to see the BOLOs (be on the lookouts) hanging behind the counter where employees can see them.”

Macin’s mother has been working steadily to keep Macin’s story in the public eye. Her latest social media message, posted on Dec. 21, is as follows:

Dear Macin’s Army:

I did have a most special weekend with my family. I enjoyed seeing my kids, grand kids, friends and acquaintances all coming together to celebrate Dallan and Ashley’s marriage.

They are a dynamic couple and know they will be successful in their new life together. I was strengthened by my Father in Heaven and only lost it a couple of times.

Spending time with my family is my most favorite thing to do. It’s the next best thing to Heaven. One of the activities that we love to do is see movies together.

I have a confession to make this evening. We went to watch “Star Wars” with a couple of my kids. I’m not one of those involved fans who knows all the characters or has waited in anticipation until the release of this film. However, I do remember the very first “Star Wars” released in the ’70s and thought it was the most spectacular movie ever at the time. Don’t worry, I’m not going to give away the plot and ruin the movie but I will say I cried a couple of times during the movie. The reference towards a missing loved one and returning home was powerful and seemed to be written just for me. There is comfort in everything at times, even a random new release movie.

I continue to miss my Macin every minute of everyday. I have hope that I will see him again. I have hope that he will feel the love of his family. I do believe that I need to accept the circumstances and allow for Macin to make his own choices and learn from his own experiences. I only have love, no anger. Compassion, not intolerance. Forgiveness, not resentment. I love him more than I can express.

The picture I am posting tonight is of my two youngest a couple weeks before Christmas 14 years ago. When my kids were young, I had more control of what they ate, wore and how their scheduled day evolved. Much simpler times and yet I thought my lot was hard back then. I love being a mother and wouldn’t want to retract my choice of bringing six beautiful people into the world. They have been such a source of strength and example to me in so many ways. I continue to learn from them daily. It’s ironic, really. When you get to the point in your life where you feel like you learn much more from them than this mother ever taught.

Love,
The Momma

P.S. I’m attaching one wedding pic that includes the newest Smith. There’s is still one missing piece.
