MILLCREEK, Utah, July 31, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Unified Police Department officials responded Tuesday night to the scene of a serious accident involving a car and a motorcycle.

According to UPD Detective Jared Richardson, the crash occurred at 2200 East and 3300 South a little before 7:30 p.m.

The male motorcyclist was westbound on 3300 South, when a passenger car, driven by a female, pulled out of a parking lot in front of the motorcycle, and the motorcycle struck the driver’s side of the car, Richardson said.

The ages of the two drivers weren’t immediately available.

Richardson said the motorcyclist was transported to the hospital in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.

“It’s still very early in the investigation,” Richardson said, “and it isn’t known if the driver of the car didn’t see the motorcycle, or if the motorcycle was going too fast — all possible factors are being considered.”

He said 3300 South westbound will be shut down from 2300 East until about 9:30 p.m.

Both eastbound lanes are open.

Gephardt Daily will update this developing story as more information is released.
