OGDEN, Utah, Oct. 10, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A motorcyclist who remained in critical condition for more than a week after he hit the side of a car that turned in front of him has died.

Police have identified the man as Theron James Palmer, 49.

Ogden police were called just after 2 p.m. Oct. 29 to the area of 12th Street just east of Washington Boulevard. Lt. Kevin Cottrel, Ogden City Police Department, said traffic was backed up, waiting for a traffic light.

“The 49-year-old motorcycle rider was passing on the right, near the curb, headed westbound and trying to get in front of the line of cars,” Cottrell said. “He didn’t want to wait.”

When a black car ahead of him turned north, into the parking lot of a Vasa Fitness Center and a Jiffy Lube, the motorcyclist hit the passenger door of the turning car.

“And he pushed that car into a car waiting to exit (the parking lot),” Cottrell said. “The rider went over the top of the first car he hit. He was not wearing a helmet.”

Palmer died on Nov. 9. No one else was injured.
