Motorcyclist critically injured in collision with car in Layton

LAYTON, Utah, May 11, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A motorcyclist suffered critical injuries Saturday afternoon when he collided with a car on southbound Interstate 15 at Layton Parkway.

The call came in to dispatch at 3:15 p.m., Cpl. Chris Bishop, Utah Highway Patrol, told Gephardt Daily.

“A second vehicle was involved,” Bishop said. “It looked like the motorcycle passed on the right, then came back in front of the passenger car, and the collision was there.”

Bishop said he had no approximate age of the motorcyclist, who was riding without a passenger. The man was flown to an area hospital in critical condition.

Bishop said he would characterize the man’s injuries as life-threatening. No injuries were reported involving anyone in the car.

Reckless driving is being investigated as a factor in the crash, said a UHP tweet posted at 4:35 p.m.

“Expect delays in the area,” it says.
