Motorcyclist Dead After Collision Thursday In Layton

LAYTON, Utah, April 8, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A motorcyclist who suffered serious injuries Thursday in Layton has died.

The motorcycle collided with a car at about 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Main Street and Antelope Drive. The motorcyclist suffered severe leg wounds including a compound fracture.

Layton Police officer Trevor Barker applied a tourniquet in an attempt to slow the blood loss, but the 45-year-old rider later died at the University of Utah Hospital. The victim’s name has not yet been released.

It was Barker’s first day with the LPD after serving six years with the Roy Police Department. A veteran Layton officer was training Barker.

Police are still investigating who was at fault in the accident.
