WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, April 19, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A motorcyclist is dead and a motorist left his car and fled on foot after early morning collision on State Route 201.

Witnesses told Utah Highway Patrol investigators that one or both of the vehicles had been driving aggressively prior to the collision, which happened on State Route 201 at about 2700 West, just west of Interstate 215.

“We have a witness who stated he saw both vehicles not maintaining their lane, as well as traveling at a little bit higher rate of speed than the rest of the traffic,” Sgt. Justin Dial, Utah Highway Patrol, said at the scene.

Additional witnesses saw the man walking away from the scene, Dial said.

The name of the victim has not been released, pending family notification. Dial said leads are being followed to locate the car’s driver, described only as a white man.

Dial did not say whether the silver sedan was stolen or whether the name on the registration might lead to the driver.
