KAMAS, Utah, July 6, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Utah Highway Patrol is investigating an accident in which a motorcyclist was seriously injured Friday on State Route 150 (Mirror Lake Highway).

The single-vehicle accident happened at about 6:45 p.m. as the motorcycle was on SR-150 near mile marker 3, eastbound out of Kamas, according to a UHP news release.

“A witness reported that the motorcycle passed them at a fairly high rate of speed. Shortly thereafter, the witness saw the motorcycle had hit a delineator post and gone off the right side of the road,” the news release said.

The rider was thrown from the bike and was found a short distance away. He had head and torso injuries and was transported to the hospital by medical helicopter. No information was available as to his condition.

Speed is being investigated as a contributing factor, the news release said.
