Motorcyclist Seriously Injured After Hitting Back Of Vehicle On I-15

SALT LAKE COUNTY, Utah, June 4, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A woman riding a motorcycle on I-15 was seriously injured after hitting the back of a vehicle near Point of the Mountain Saturday evening.

Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Austin O’bray said the accident happened just after 5 p.m. when a 56-year-old woman was riding a Harley Davidson north on I-15 near 14600 south and did not see the traffic in front of her had slowed down.

“She was not able to stop fast enough and she hit the back end of another vehicle,” O’Bray said. “She ended up with fairly serious injuries including a broken arm, clavicle and injuries to her nose.”

O’Bray said the woman, who was wearing a helmet, was taken by ground ambulance to Intermountain Medical Center in serious condition.

The accident is under investigation and  O’Bray said impairment is not being considered as a factor.
