MORGAN COUNTY, Utah, May 26, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Mountain Green Fire Protection helped a little girl Wednesday with a complicated case of entrapment.

“‘Entrapment’ calls can be for a person trapped in a machine or in a trench, or … in a park bench,” a statement from the part-time and volunteer agency says. “Mountain Green units were dispatched to a little girl with her finger stuck in the hole on a park bench.

“Several folks had tried ‘everything’ to get her finger loose: oil, dish soap, aloe vera, ice, but nothing worked.”

Mountain Green engine 131 arrived on the scene and also tried all the conventional methods, “with no effect, and then since her finger had swollen, we employed a battery powered saw to cut around the hand.

“The child was then transported by her mom to the hospital, where she could be given pain meds or sedation and the bench part could be carefully removed.”

The bench came out of it with a worse scar.

“We covered the sharp edges of the cut bench with duct tape, and marked it out of service.”
