RIGGINS, Idaho, August 10, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A large mudslide is blocking U.S. Highway 95 in multiple places north of Riggins late Friday night and into Saturday morning.

The Idaho State Police, Idaho County Sheriff’s Office, and Idaho Transportation Department are at the scene of the slide, from mileposts 197 to 205, an ISP news release says.

Officials are asking everyone to avoid traveling through the area. Roadblocks have been set up at mileposts 161 and 234 where traffic is being turned around.

Crews have begun cleaning the area, but because of all the mud and water on the road,  it will take considerable time to get the area cleared.

The hwy has one lane open with flaggers and a pilot car. Please use caution in the area.

  1. How long do you expect closure of 95 at Riggins. My husband has an appointment at the VA. In Boise on Monday ( we live in Grangeville) and need to know if we need to cancel. Thank you!
