HIGHLAND, Utah, Aug. 17, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Lone Peak Fire and Police personnel were at the scene of a structure fire in the Canterbury area Friday night.

Lone Peak Fire Capt. Danny Campbell told Gephardt Daily the fire was caused by lightning that struck the roof and set it on fire. The flames then got into the attic of the residence.

The homeowners were inside the home when the lightning struck, and they heard and felt the impact, Campbell said.

Crews from Lone Peak, Lehi, American Fork and Pleasant Grove fire departments had the fire completely out and cleaned up within about two hours of their arrival, Campbell said. They were able to contain the fire to the attic and roof line.

No one was injured in this fire.

Campbell estimated damages at about $20,000. He said the homeowners would be displaced overnight, but he didn’t anticipate that they would be out of their home much longer than that.
