RIVERDALE, Utah, June 17, 2020 (Gephardt Daily) — Crews from six different fire departments in Weber County responded to a report of visible fire late Tuesday night at Aaron’s Furniture in Riverdale.

Capt. Henry, with the Riverdale Fire Department, said crews were dispatched at 11:20 p.m. and arrived to find that the fire was in the exterior overhang and sign on the front of the building at 1090 W. Riverdale Road.

A light, steady rain beat down on everyone as they climbed ladders and opened up the section of the overhang to see how far the flames had extended.

“It was only on the exterior. We had fire control in about 20 minutes,” Henry told Gephardt Daily. “We don’t know the cause yet. The fire is under investigation, and we’ll go back in the morning.”

No estimate of damages was available Tuesday night.

This was the second fire in six months at Aaron’s. A small fire broke out on Christmas Day last year in the same area of the building. Capt. Henry had no information on the cause of that fire.

On Tuesday night, fire crews from Riverdale, Roy, South Ogden, Weber Fire District, Ogden, and South Weber responded to the scene.

Police also assisted by monitoring any traffic and keeping potential gawkers from entering the large parking lot.

Gephardt Daily will update this developing story as more information becomes known.

  1. Twice in 6 months ? This sounds like insurance job wherein losses are claimed just to reduce their cost of operation. They should had proper protection from a year before ! They want to go out of business without responsibility. If they have good quality m or intensional damage then when they catch the perpetrators charge them hard and give them a very tough punishmen . I am expecting to hear about a large number of companies with large, bad damages from accidents.
