SANDY, Utah, Aug. 30, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — More than 4,000 customers are without power in Sandy after an outage reported at 12:12 p.m. Friday.

Rocky Mountain Power reported in a tweet that the outage was caused by an unspecified problem at a substation.

We’re aware of a power outage affecting 4,299 customers in Sandy, Utah, caused by a problem at the substation,” the 1:09 p.m. tweet says.

The customers affected in this case reside or work in the zip codes 84094, 84092, 84070, 84020. People passing through those areas are also affected due to the loss of power to traffic lights.

A “customer” refers to an account holder, not the number of people who rely on that account for power.

As of 1:30 p.m., no estimated time for power restoration was given.

“We appreciate your patience as we work to safely restore service as soon as possible,” the RMP statement says. “For updates, please text OUT to 759677 or visit rockymountainpower.net/outage.”
