WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, Dec. 6, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) — Police in West Valley City are investigating a brawl outside a hookah bar early Sunday morning which involved more than 100 people.

According to West Valley City Police Lt. Julie Jorgenson, a patrol officer witnessed the fight break out around 3 a.m. near 1800 West 3500 South.

As the officer was waiting for back-up, he saw a man who was severely beaten being dragged inside the bar, while two other men brandished pistols.

By the time reinforcements arrived, dozens of people had barricaded themselves in the bar and refused to come out.

Once police finally made their way inside, they found a man in his mid-20s who had been beaten, but he refused medical treatment.

Investigators say men who brandished the pistols had been tentatively identified, but many of the witnesses were being uncooperative with police. It was unclear if charges would be forthcoming.

The hookah bar has been the site of numerous police calls in the past. Police say they’ve been working with the owner to try and minimize problems there.
