NORTH SALT LAKE, Utah, Aug. 25, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A North Salt Lake man was booked on suspicion of crimes against a child.

Mark Anthony Melke-Allen, 39, was booked on Thursday on suspicion of:

  • Sodomy on a child, a first-degree felony
  • Two counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child, a first-degree felony
  • Dealing in materials harmful to a minor, a third-degree felony

According to a probable cause statement, a juvenile at an LDS church camp said she was being abused by Melke-Allen. After multiple interviews with several agencies, in which she expressed her embarrassment, the girl gave details of the incidents.

The juvenile also described graphic videos he had shown her, reportedly for instructional purposes. Melke-Allen’s phone browsing history showed videos of a similar sexual nature to those the juvenile described.

Police also noted that Melke-Allen had a history of failing to register as a sex offender, the probable cause statement says.

Melke-Allen denied abusing the child and a second girl noted in the probable cause document. After being read his Miranda Rights, he stated that “he believes the girls are telling the truth, but not about him.”

Bail was set at $75,000, and has been posted.

  1. $75,000 ?? Seriously. A friends daughter went to Wendover with her boyfriend for his birthday. He got drunk and lost all their cash so he sent her downstairs to try and cash his payroll check. The casino had her arrested and her bail was $100,000. I guess money talks or else the safety, security and well being of a child doesn’t matter much. At 10% this monster was back on the streets for a mere $7,500. Something is seriously wrong with our justice system.
