CLEARFIELD, Utah, Aug. 22, 2021 (Gephardt Daily) — Drivers are advised to plan for an overnight closure of northbound Interstate 15 in Clearfield from 11:30 p.m. Monday to 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to the Utah Department of Transportation.

All northbound lanes will be closed between 700 South and 650 North.

“During this closure, northbound drivers will be detoured off I-15 at the 700 South exit and back onto I-15 via Main Street (State Route 126) and 650 North. Drivers should expect delays of up to 10 minutes to take the detour and should plan ahead to avoid the area if possible,” the news release says

During the overnight closure, crews will install a new overhead traffic sign as part of the I-15 Express Lanes project.

“This project is adding new Express Lanes and repairing sections of I-15 between Layton Parkway and Riverdale Road to improve traffic flow, reduce congestion and provide a smoother ride for drivers,” according to the news release.

It’s anticipated that the new Express Lanes will be open by the end of the this year.
