SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, July 20, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City is forecasting monsoon moisture for Monday as storms return to the area.

Folks in central and southern Utah should expect isolated to scattered afternoon showers and storms through midweek and be ready for lightning, gusty winds and brief heavy rains, especially in slick rock and slot canyon areas, NWS posted on its website.

Wet weather is expected to continue into Tuesday and Wednesday, with showers and evening thunderstorms, including in higher elevation and recreation areas.

Eastern Utah and western Colorado could experience hazardous weather in the form of lightning and high winds Saturday night, the weather service said.

On Sunday, isolated showers and thunderstorms will develop along eastern Utah and western Colorado each afternoon and evening through early next week.
