Officials: Clearfield High ‘clown threat’ traced to laptop of Indiana teen

CLEARFIELD, Utah, Oct. 8, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — An Indiana teenager may have been responsible for a recent “clown threat” reportedly made against Davis County’s Clearfield High School.

According to a report in the Chicago Tribune, IT professionals in the Indiana city of Hammond police were able to trace local threats made to schools there to a laptop issued to a 16-year-old Hammond High School student.

On Wednesday, the teen was arrested by officers from the Hammond Police Department. The student’s case will be referred to juvenile court.

The laptop also contained information on a similar social media threat made to Clearfield High School, according to the article .

According to an article in Ogden’s Standard-Examiner, Davis School District officials and the Clearfield Police Department had not been aware of any hoax “clown threat” against the high school before being alerted on Friday.
