Officials ID two men who died in crash on SR-201 in Magna

MAGNA, Utah, March 29, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Department of Public Safety officials have identified two men who died Wednesday afternoon in a crash with another vehicle on State Route 201.

Raphael R. Xiques, 26, of West Jordan, and Giovanni Suazo, 21, of Taylorsville, were in a white Subara heading north on 9120 West to turn west on SR-201, a DPS news release said Friday.

A gold Nissan Pathfinder, driven by a 42-year-old man, was going east on SR-201.

According to the news release, “The Subaru traveled northbound to attempt a left turn to westbound SR 201. When the Subaru entered the eastbound lanes of SR 201, the Nissan crashed into the Subaru, t-boning the driver side door.”

Xiques and Suazo in the Subaru were pronounced dead on scene.

The Nissan’s driver, the only occupant of the vehicle, was transported in serious condition to Intermountain Medical Center in Murray. Officials did not provide an update on the man’s condition.

It is unknown if impairment was involved at this time, the release states.
